Twitter this again: Revisiting Paddy Power social website prop

That’s why they play with the big bucks, i suppose. Within 24 hours of writing this post on some seemingly too-long odds over at Paddy Power in the bookmaker’s intriguing “Highest-ranking social website by 2011” specialty bet came news from metrics specialist firm Nielsen Online of Twitter.com’s low rate of return visitors and thus justification to put fad-of-the-year Twitter, a website with over 1,000% growth year-on-year, at 9/4 odds in the proposition.

Here’s some tweets Twittered by the Os Man’s Twitterer as it happened in real time. You know, if i did that kind of thing.

Finished story on PP’s Top Social Site 2011 4 LiveBetsDirect.com. Might B a good 1 if U have a buck or 2. Playing it myself. Twitter rulez!

(Yes, the Os Man is well aware the above tweet has nothing to do with the “Highest-ranking social website by 2011” specialty bet, but that’s what happens when you start messing around on Twitter – what a great ‘site!)

Life is too short to be in a hurry.

See what I mean? That one’s from the real Shaq, and the Os Man has decided to take the big man’s advice and chill on panicking about this Paddy Power specialty bet just yet. Lots can happen online in a year (ask MySpace) and Twitter’s new open-source policy should keep the birdie’s website hip for some time.

The only question that remains is whether Twitter technology might be so good, no one ever need check the actual Twitter.com to receive new tweets or to tweak old tweets.

The Os Man’s advice: Let it ride on Twitter at 9/4.
