Skinny dipping (and proposition betting) for charity at Paddy Power
It isn’t often enough that someone in the online gambling biz makes such a grand gesture for charity, and, when combined with the prospect of visualizing hundreds of naked women, well, what else can we say except, “Kudos, Paddy Power!”
Sunday after next will see the introduction of what will certainly become a favorite Irish tradition. While organizers are calling it the “Dip in the Nip,” Paddy Power more descriptively refers to the “Action Breast Cancer charity skinny dip.” The event is centered in Sligo County and participants will be collecting money from private sponsors for their participation; Action Breast Cancer is a program of the greater Irish Cancer Society.
And just in case you’re wondering, yes, ABC and the girls “are attempting to beat/set a [Guinness] world record with this event for the greatest number of women skinny-dipping at one time.”
So what’s Paddy Power’s part in the whole she-bang (sorry)? Aside from the requisite prop bet, Paddy Power will be donating any profits made on the bet to the Irish Cancer Society.
As for the proposition bet itself, it’s entitled “Which lake will the ladies dip in?” and inspired by, as the Paddy puts it, the decision to relocate from initial choice Rosses Point “because of the threat of peeping Toms!” Explains Action Breast Cancer PR: “The exact location of the dip will be confirmed to participants the night before by text to maintain mystery and try to ensure privacy.”
In case you have intimate knowledge of Irish beaches or the locations to which women traditionally prefer to visit for skinny-dipping en masse, the table is the following. But hey, it’s for charity. As Paddy Power puts it, “What better reason is there for a punt?”
